Smoke Detector Installation

Smoke detectors are your first line of defense when dealing with life safety.  It is the most inexpensive and yet the most important part of keeping you and your family safe.  These systems should be checked consistently to ensure proper functionality.  Making sure that all devices are interconnected and are properly working can mean the difference in making it out of your home safely.  NFPA survey reported that 52% of house fires had smoke detectors that were not functioning or battery not even in it.

Homes that are older may not have smoke detectors at all.  Some of these older residences only have 1 or 2 smoke detectors/alarms and are battery operated.  Today’s standard for life safety requires smoke detection in all bedrooms, hallways, stairwells and unfinished areas such as storage rooms.  They further protect you with having all alarms interconnected so that no matter where you are in the house, when a fire occurs, each individual device will sound at the same time.

The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) also requires a Combination Detector in any home that has gas appliances for carbon monoxide buildup.
